Needing a little sunshine on a gloomy day ...

It's been raining most of the day here on the Sunshine Coast. My Mom, who has lived here for 25 years, calls it Liquid Sunshine. At least we are not in the grip of the relentless winter that seems to have set in permanently in most of the North American continent. So, I'm not complaining.

But, when I was trying to get inspired to stamp something, I kept gravitating to a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock left over from a previous project. Sitting right beside it was my Daffodil Delight ink pad. What a cheerful combination for a day like today!

Not wanting to go searching too hard for stamps, I again looked at what was sitting on my work surface. Enter Feel Goods and Eye-Catching Ikat and this 4X4 card almost made itself!

I think the chevron image from the Eye-Catching Ikat set, inked with Bermuda Bay and stamped first full strength and then stamped off for a lighter shade, looks like the waves of the ocean. And the cheery Daffodil Delight sun has a DD Candy Dot in the middle. I stamped this sunburst first on the main image panel and then again on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. After cutting it out, I popped it up with a Dimensional. The sentiment from Feel Goods is stamped in Smoky Slate.

Playing with some bright colours is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon, don't you agree?

Wacky Watercooler March Blog Hop

It's Wacky Watercooler Hop time again and we have a Smorgasbord of wonderful projects for you, covering all kinds of holidays and special days.

If you are following the Hop order, you have just been totally inspired by your visit to Kath R's blog.

For my first project I re-visited two favourite techniques - Triple Time Stamping and Two-Step Stamping. This would make a great Mother's Day card or birthday card and I love this colour-combo of Crisp Cantaloupe, Tangerine Tango, Pistachio Pudding and Wild Wasabi.

The cardstock colours of Very Vanilla and Baked Brown Sugar add to the vintage-y feel. And I couldn't help myself - just had to use some of my favourite Pearl Basic Jewels and Linen Thread. I find myself using those a lot!

These are the supplies:
Stamps: Stippled Blossoms,Chalk Talk
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Tangerine Tango, Pistachio Pudding, Wild Wasabi, Baked Brown Sugar
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar
Other: Pearls Basic Jewels, Linen Thread, Chalk Talk Framelits, Stamp-a-ma-Jig

Next up is a project inspired by Jean Fitch. She featured this treat holder in her post for our February Blog Hop here. I adapted it to hold the Lindt chocolate bunnies and also I wanted the front to be lower than the back.

Here's what I used:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes - a sentiment for every occasion!
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe
Paper: Summer Starfruit cardstock, Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper - a free Sale-a-Bration item still available until March 31.
Other: Word Window punch, Pool Party Twine - another free Sale-a-Bration item from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack, Candy Dots - another favourite embellishment! And of course the delicious Lindt chocolate bunnies.

For my final project, I was inspired by a card created by Helen Read. who used a technique called Direct-to-Paper and she calls A Painterly Background. Whatever you call it, it is beautiful. I love that technique, but decided to do something else. And, she inspired me to use a stamp set I just had to have - and then never used! How many of you do that?

Using markers, I scribbled Coastal Cabana, Smoky Slate and Baked Brown Sugar onto an acrylic block. After spritzing with water using a Stamping' Spritzer, I used the block like it was a stamp and stamped on Whisper White cardstock.

It's like magic the way the colours flow and blend all by themselves.

After putting my card together, I looked at it and wondered if it need embellishments. What do you think? This is the first one I did:

And because this is actually a very quick card to make, I did another one and used some Linen Thread and a Naturals button. This set is also very versatile with three image stamps and three sentiments that can be used for multiple occasions.

Please leave a comment and tell me which one you like the best!

Stamps: Wetlands
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Smoky Slate, Crumb Cake, Gumball Green, Black Staz-On
Cardstock: Whisper White, Gumball Green, Early Espresso
Other: Linen Thread, Naturals button

And now, as you continue your journey by clicking on the Next button below, we are excited to have Stefanie Pletscher join us for her first Hop with the Wacky Watercooler gang.
